Tending the Roots: Recognizing Trauma and Cultivating Wellness

Witness Committee is hosting a Trauma Informed Care Training Workshop on Saturday, June 28th from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Network for Religious Communities at 1272 Delaware Ave. in Buffalo.  It is free.  A potluck style lunch will be provided.  Feel free to bring a dish to pass.

About the Training

The Tending the Roots Training serves as a standard approach to training on Trauma-Informed Care across the state of New York. This training provides a foundational understanding of trauma, resilience, and healing before unpacking how trauma and toxic stress impact individuals, organizations, and the communities they serve. This training is essential for all those who want to better serve their community in a trauma-informed way, increase their resilience in their work, and foster an environment that supports the well-being of their team.

About the presenter

Samantha Steiner is a Prevention Education Specialist at the Crisis Services Advocate Department, where she provides community education and outreach with the goal of preventing sexual assault and domestic violence. She is a Certified Instructor in the Tending the Roots curriculum and is passionate about fostering awareness of trauma, its impacts, and strategies for healing. Samantha received her Bachelor’s Degrees in Public Health and Political Science from the University of Florida.
